If you were to ask me what kinds of weddings I would be ok with filming 100% of the time, it would be ones like this Custer State Park elopement. A spectacular hike that leads you to stunning views paired with a super fun couple, I was living my best life.
After Shalana and Spencer got engaged, they started down the path of planning a traditional wedding. However, they realized that wasn't "them", and decided to elope instead. They love being outdoors, hiking, and exploring South Dakota's Black Hills, so why not just do the dang thing there?
When I first talked to them, they said they were considering hiking up and eloping on top of Little Devils Tower. That just so happens to be one of my personal favorite hikes, so I just had to book them. Fortunately, we really hit it off on that first call, and the stars aligned for us to work together.
Hiking up with them, their maid of honor, best man, and pastor was so much fun. Once we got to the summit, the views did not disappoint. I could've flown my drone up there for as long as the sun would let me.
Their pastor officiated a beautiful ceremony where the couple not expressed their deep love to each other, but also showcased their personal faith, which included a foot-washing ceremony. Their parents wrote them heartfelt letters to read during the ceremony as well, and their personal vows were so beautiful.
After they were married, they had their first dance, popped a bottle of champage, and Katie Mary Photography and I got some fantastic portraits of them before we began the descent back down. This film is without a doubt a personal favorite of mine; I sincerely can't thank Spencer and Shalana enough for having me join them on this amazing adventure.
